The Tragedy of (Most) Modern Worship Music →
Christian music/movie reviewer Brett McCracken faithfully articulates my beef with most modern Christian “Worship” music and offers some alternatives.
I don’t know all of the bands he mentions, though I can agree with Liz Janes, Half-Handed Cloud and B

The Hoax
CORRECTION
An earlier version of this article quoted from a blog entry purportedly by the Rev. Al Sharpton. MSNBC.com has determined that the blog is a hoax …
No. No. No, no, stop it. I swear, “hoax” is rapidly becoming the most intentionally misused word in currency.
The above was taken from an MSNBC article about Michael Vick that included a lengthy quotation taken...

How walkable is your neighborhood? Mine is alright, there is lots of stuff about a mile away. I drive to most of those places, though. The post office and some snacky places are nicely walkable, though. Too bad they mostly close right when I get off of work.

First Impressions: Review of The Bat-Man, By...
Whew! I’ve been slogging through these old Detective Comics issues for a while now, just to get to this point. Not that there isn’t a lot of fun in the things - Siegel and Shuster’s ‘Spy’ feature was always pretty fun, for example - but into every 68-page anthology comic a little crappy storytelling must fall and I’ve read all of it. Curse you, Cosmo, Phantom of...

Perfect Lemonade?
“As jamaro says, the pith (white part of the peel under the yellow zest) is terribly bitter.
“The zest itself, though, is the difference between pretty good lemonade and the tangy, fragrant lemonade you deserve. The zest is full of delicious citrus oil.
“I slice the zest from the lemons before slicing or squeezing them. I use a sharp knife, since it’s easier to control...
New Comic Day BINGO
Grab your day’s stash of comics and see how long it takes you to score a Bingo. Or better yet, compete against a friend (or co-worker) and whoever gets Bingo first wins a beer (or two or three).
Note: The same comic — even the same panel — can count for multiple squares. For example, if it’s a panel featuring Soranik Natu showing both breasts and butt while flighting a zombie, that’s worth...

Wikipedia as cartoons
WikiWorld is a brilliant collection of cartoon versions of Wikipedia entries. Drawn by cartoonist Greg Williams, and reminiscent of other info-comics like Ripley’s Believe it or Not or Steve McGarry’s Pop Culture, the cartoons are expertly drawn (heck, Williams even captured Colbert’s wonky right ear). And as a bonus for myself, at least, the cartoons so far are all fun geeky things I love...
